Comment Re:No wars... right... (Score 5, Insightful) 707

Wikipedia breaks it down like this because of the availability of information, not the frequency of the subject. You really think there have been the same number of wars from the beginning of time to 1000ad as the last 18 months, as you imply? There have wars that took out entire civilizations that you've never heard of, that no one has heard of, Wikipedia is no time traveler. There have been no major wars, what makes a war major, you ask, my answer would be: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_and_anthropogenic_disasters_by_death_toll

Submission + - Facebook asserts trademark on word "book" in new user agreement (arstechnica.com)

jbrodkin writes: "Facebook is trying to expand its trademark rights over the word "book" by adding the claim to a newly revised version of its "Statement of Rights and Responsibilities," the agreement all users implicitly consent to by using or accessing Facebook. The company has registered trademarks over its name and many variations of it, but not on the word "book". By inserting the trademark claim into the Facebook user agreement, the company hopes to bolster its standing in lawsuits against sites that incorporate the word "book"."

Comment Travelling costs more than propellant (Score 1) 238

My car is a pretty reusable craft, and though i almost never throw any part of it away, it still seems to cost a lot more than just propellant to keep it going. So, he can design a system to deliver people on Mars with insignificant wear and tear? I think more people would pay 500K for a car that could travel 250 million miles between tune ups.
