apolloose's Journal: A Nation at a Loss 25 yrs after "A Nation at Risk"

Somebody had to say it, and 25 years ago they did... "A Nation At Risk" was a breakdown of everything wrong with the Education System in America, and really started the reformation of schools all across the country - - Edward B. Fiske wrote a really good opinion article A Nation at a LOSS that revisits a quarter century later the failing Education System in America Today. It's a good history lesson about how our schools became enablers of critical thinking, and creative solutions, but we lost out on the rote memorization of basic science, math, and reading. This is very important because I now have kids, and what will their CORE educational goals be, since we are all STILL at RISK, eh?
