If that's the case and you mean game developer or software engineer. generally they look for somebody with a bachelor's in computer science or something similar. ie game development from the game development schools. about programming languages you can start with c++ but if you want to be proficient you dont wanna stop there learn lua, c#, python and any other programming language that you see in job descriptions. i seen even ruby on some companies. this will vary by your position if you are a tools programmer they prob want you to be decent at c# so you can create user interfaces. my best recommendation for you is join a mod team where you can code on c++ or any of those languages. and read job description from company's you would like to work with to see what they are looking in new graduates.

I am a student at a game development school when we started our programming 1 course everybody said to never have warnings on your code and to fix all of them. and they told us about the _s version of printf etc. 3 months ago i started looking into porting all my old code to my new ubuntu desktop. because i want to learn how to make games for linux and was surprised that it didnt compile. now i have to or leave the "unsafe" versions on my code or disable the warning.

They are just trying to limit the amount of piracy. i am sure that somebody on sony agrees the put homebrew and backup games on the psp thing. but it also opens the door for piracy i wish someday a console will let you do backups so only you can use. instead of having to rely on hacking the console for it. on a unrelated note my starcrafts disk are all dead beyond repair if i had a backup of them i would not have to go download them from piratebay. (keys are lost too fyi so no blizzard downloader)

i never wanted to upgrade to vista but since i work at making games. i wanted to work on directx 11 and 64 bit so i had too. they prompts get annoying BUT. you have to realize something those prompts are what let you use your computer without getting a virus or accidentally deleting the wrong files. so i learned to live with the prompts for the greater good. ie my security. but some people prefer convenience instead of safety.

Submission + - Multiple FLAC Vulnerabilities affecting every OS (heise-security.co.uk)

Enon writes: eEye Digital Security and US-CERT has discovered 14 vulnerabilities in the FLAC file format that affect a huge range of media players on every supported Operating System (yes Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Unix, BSD, Solaris, and even some hardware players are vulnerable). These vulnerabilities could allow a malicious hacker or even (DUN DUN DUN) the RIAA to trojanize FLAC files that could compromise your computer if they are played on a vulnerable media player.
