Is he suggesting the game simulates conscious beings or that we are actually avatars for conscious beings that do not remember being players? That part of Musk's idea troubles me, but most of all is the flaw that he fails to distinguish between possible in the virtual world and what is possible in the physical world. Just because it could be done and likely will be possible by an advanced civilization doesn't mean we are likely a part of that. In the real world it is very likely that life evolved in many millions of places. Doesn't that imply that there are really good odds on us being real beings?

I used Hypercard to build educational tools when I worked in the Calgary school system. What a great tool. The only drawback was the no-colour limitation, which I found a work around for anyway. They really should ship apple products with it again.

The idea of using such a drug to make the world a better place (and shouldn't that be the real goal of a justice system?) is so stupid I feel sick to think her opinion may be of value to a right wing nut who thinks standing up for vengeance will get her or him a few knee jerk votes. The idea behind arresting, prosecuting, and when suitable, incarcerating people should be to make the outside world a safer, better place, not to satisfy the blood lust of one or another idealogue.

Apparently anything this student was learning had little to do with the "hard work" of the school.
