What does Mexico think of having Mars launches so close by? It's doubtful Musk cares of course, but Boca Chica is right on the US/Mexico border.

Perhaps that could be avoided if young children were to use reading glasses for reading and other close work indoors.
Maybe you're wrong (on the internet even!!) The Nature paper says:
"The devices produce a sustained voltage of around 0.5 volts across a 7-micrometre-thick film, with a current density of around 17 microamperes per square centimetre. We find the driving force behind this energy generation to be a self-maintained moisture gradient that forms within the film when the film is exposed to the humidity that is naturally present in air. Connecting several devices linearly scales up the voltage and current to power electronics. Our results demonstrate the feasibility of a continuous energy-harvesting strategy"
Sounds promising to me, and I'm usually super skeptical.
The lead says it works even in Sahara humidity levels. I don't know how much dryer Atacama is, but you probably have more problems living there than just being unable to get electricity from the air.

It's a marvelously deep but excellently and entertainingly readable discussion of causes of behavior, ranging from molecular processes in neuron synapses in the brain to societal and environmental factors.
Rubbish comment, this is no way a counter example. The Fire Dept traffic were not asking for priority, just for equal access; they were being throttled. What's more the Fire Dept were not exceeding any cap, they paid for unlimited data.
very nicely put! a smell test reveals quality
Climate change isn't necessarily gradual. For example, with all the fresh water coming into the north Atlantic from melting Greenland glaciers, the Gulf Stream is slowing and may shut down, no longer warming northern Europe.
It's unlikely that science or technology can provide "ample means of addressing these problems"
This Australian study: https://researchonline.jcu.edu... found that adding seaweed to the diet of cattle reduced their methane emissions by up to 99%. That seems a lot simpler and faster than breeding for reduced methane; in any case the special breeds probably wouldn't have 99% reduction. Let's do both.

Thats wicked. Evil. What is the company that digs this grave?
Well on some/many systems # doesn't skip the message, it puts you into voicemail, or hell, or somewhere else
