krebsonsecurity writes "January promises to be a busy month for Web server and database administrators alike: A security research firm in Russia says it plans to release information about a slew of previously undocumented vulnerabilities in several widely-used commercial software products, including MySQL, Tivoli, IBM DB2, Sun Directory, and a host of others, writes krebsonsecurity.com. From the blog: 'After working with the vendors long enough, we've come to conclusion that, to put it simply, it is a waste of time. Now, we do not contact with vendors and do not support so-called "responsible disclosure" policy,' Legerov said."

Journal Journal: Snow Leopard - Which applications did NOT work for me.

I just finished checking my very recent Snow Leopard Installation and there was no visible improvement except for 7 GB more HDD space; there is a lot new with QuickTime and Expose is much better.

Also, there were a few applications on my end that needed rework. Here is the list:

1. CyberDuck :- I needed to install a beta version which is compatible with SL. The older one refused to boot.

Windows Explorer's engine was used to make Internet Explorer. They never do things the right way. You cannot have your file browser to have same engine as your web browser. Moreover, even the new version of the browsers are pathetic and highly unsecure. I think MS needs to do some good before they actually can get credibility. I do feel that using a Linux distro is much better than a Windows version, any day. For myself, I use Mac OSX. I am not sure about security but the usability factor alone will never let me touch Windows machine again.

Journal Journal: Facebook Rejects Working App and Approves Broken One

I almost burst out into a fit of laughter when I and one of my friends had an idea to make a two column broken application (just the looks) and submit it to see what happens. In other words, just have the little better looks and thats it. What I ended up doing was to break one of my current apps which was denied sometime back and resubmit it with same text and features.
