Is an MBA Worthy ... maybe (Score 1)

let me preface my remarks by saying I work in the industry (marketing MBAs). That said, I think the MBA gives YOU control over your career, and is a degree designed for management. Thus if you want to run an organization, or at least be responsible for making some macro-level decisions, it is a worthy degree. It will not guarantee success, and there are clearly successful managers w/out the degree, but it will increase your skill set and prepare you for management. It basically offers three value propositions: technical skills (fundamentals in business subjects) networks (businesses are increasingly driven by ppl networked together) brand (once you have an MBA its a seal of approval as it were, and the particular school you attend also represents a brand) Be careful, there are many types of MBA degrees, and some will serve you better than others.
