ok... hold on there. So your complaint is after a domain has "expired" they hold on to it a while and charge you extra to get it back. When I had a godaddy domain name they sent me a bajillion emails when the domain came up for renewal. If you don't renew the domain name then that is entirely your fault, you need to keep up with a domain name that is important to you. Now if instead of just releasing it back to the public they hold on to it for you and for a fee will give it back, that sounds pretty reasonable to be honest. The bottum line is, if it was important to you, they do everything on their end to remind you, and you should be doing everything on your end to make sure you keep that domain, ( you should probably have it on auto renew anyway) if it is a domain you dont care that much about then just wait till it expires and rebuy it from a different registrar.
Also they give you i think 3 weeks after it has expired to recover it without a fee, really man, godaddy does some shady stuff, but this isnt one of them, this sounds like something you messed up on
