A lot of geeks have found boardgames as a good way to interact with other people, so chances are that the boardgame club near you has people like you who are trying to get social. The main point is not to go from 0 to 100 in one go, but to horn those social skills. I find boardgames a great opportunity for this as boardgames still call that inside geek that lives in you but now you are socializing at the same time.
