Journal Journal: Is it 1998 all over again?
Business Week has an interesting article called It Feels Like 1998
All Over Again about the similarities and differences
between now and the tech bubble that swung into high gear
in 1998.
The article cites several conditions of the bubble to today, including a new flood of venture capital, copycat companies, and the trendy name of "Web 2.0". The article also points out that there are differences, including a grounded tech stock market and a very picky IPO environment.
The conclusion of the article is that it is too soon to tell if its a bubble or not. While I tend to agree that its soon to tell, my business side tells me there is both real substance and real growth potential behind today's tech companies, including the web 2.0 crowd. What do others think?
