Journal after5's Journal: pre-roma 1
This is an old one I am finally able to upload, i hope you like it.

Aye Chihuahua!
Nothing makes someone more homesick than their stomach. At least that's the conclusion I have reached while observing my peers here. Most people complain about lack of ice in their drinks, I don't mind at all. I do miss free refills and free restrooms and other such niceties of the states.
But just by overhearing random conversations, what the Techies of this trip miss most, above all, is Taco Bell. That supplier of grade D beef goodness is the object of salivary desire for these globe trotters. It's something about their increasingly expensive hard shell tacos and watered down hot sauce that cause us to tremble with just the thought of the taste. Sure, McDonald's are plentiful in these lands (and lord knows I've been to more in the past 3 weeks than I have been in the past three years), but no Taco Bells. That whole Tex-Mex taste hasn't reached global proportions just yet, but oh, one day, one day it will. Who can resist some good Tex-Mex? If you don't like it, well, there's something wrong with you. That's like saying you don't like Italian. Which one of you out there would not crave a huge bowl of pasta with a hearty meat ragu? Now I'm hungry.
On a side note, I have yet to have a huge bowl of pasta with a hearty meat ragu and I've been in Italy for a week. I knew coming in that real Italian food isn't as rich as the american stuff I've been nursed on, but come on! It tastes great, give me more! I'm definitely making a trek to Maggiano's when I get back. Anyone want to join me?
Oh, and don't get me started on the addictive Gelati. The italians know that you'll finish your ice cream in three blocks, so they put up another stand right there, tempting you with their delectable dairy delights.
It's almost not fair.
Oh, i have a few updates on flight information for when I return. Apparently I'm not flying back with the group, or at least not the people to whom I have talked. I fly from London-Heathrow to Amsterdam (can you say wrong direction?) and from Amsterdam to Memphis, after which I shall puddle jump into Atlanta arriving sometime around 11pm on Aug 5. I think that's correct, I'll have better info for you soon. Everyone else is flying from London-Gatwick to Atlanta via Detroit. I guess I'm just special.
Until next time, stay tuned for more updates. Rome is up next.
