Because all serious business or corporation wouldn't have employee signing a NDA and/or other forms of contract for mutual confidentiality as a direct, indirect or chained provider or supplier, and thus, wouldn't be allowed to share whatever project, code or other idea on some system that has not been "Approved by IT", that IT team that probably had to go through a set of approvals themself so that the business stay secure but also compliant in the eyes of it insurance, shareholders and others liable party ?

Just a though for nightmares... :)

What is expected is; An utopia where all humans are nice, beautiful, happy, smiling, nice to each others, clean, and recycling 100% of their waste.

What the reality is; Redneck Joe will not give a fuck about you and your bullshit, he and the 40-50%+ of the population, will start again (like our grand parents used to do), throws shit in water, burn it, bury it, export it, bring it to their others neighbor, and do shit like this....

Have you seen how VS Code is barely usable when you don't lean toward Subscription based or Pay for 3rd party tools ?

Let take the example of the C# DevKit, where you got to "activate it" to use it, you got to resort using omnisharp to not have to do that. This *granular enshittification* of every fucking aspect of it, is what I am talking about, not just "AI", but lot of things Microsoft does, result into binding you more and more with their services, their partner, their eco-system, instead of really contributing to the free and open source.

It's like getting "Window-rized", piece by piece, slowly by a silent cancer, planning every move it does.

Is there a better VS Code replacement since there seem to be no opt-out to the "forced and shoved in the throat AI roadmap" from MS ? Can we please get an IDE that is clean and stripped of bullshit, and that we can disable all forms of AI or does we have to go back to eclipse, clion and others ?

This seem to be a long time planned perversion of the stability, privacy and comfort we have on linux, something that Microsoft seem want to mess up with their co-pilot. It alright that it is been offered as an options, but starting to "insert by force" it every where and then slap "AI" on everything..... what the f... is wrong with you !

Good luck and Farewell in your "Undesired marketing, Forced Telemetry, Forced Microsoft Account Bidding, and others Cloud Bullshits that nobody want to be forced upon, in an attempt of getting the customer to finance MS infrastructure instead of it's own", it has been a nice ride, but we're done here.

Just have Canada and USA vote, make and pass laws that make opt-out a default when it concern AI, and to not "force" users to install or use any AI components to use the base functionality of their device. If the users want to, then let be his/her/their choice, not the data-mining company's holding the user hostage to do whatever until they have their AI anal probe installed everywhere and activated.

Just like Microsoft had to re-think their "internet explorer" embedding in Windows, it is time to require and force the GAFAM to act responsibly.

This doesn't prevent them from gathering genuine pigs that want to have that AI everywhere they go, but it would protect the rest of us. It almost like if that was common sense !

When it is that we will "demand" that our lawmaker make being opt-out of every single AI crap a default, and that electronical devices such as mobile or computers have to stop sucking your privacy out by preventing and making illegal to pollute like a cancer, a device with stock application or services that you can't remove or disable, including un-wanted tracking and the like ?

Comment The sad sub-par state of Doordash... (Score 1) 7

I never understood why doordash settle for sub-par interface and quality of application than Uber by example, which is clearly a leader in that industry.

Whether it is :
- sale tax registration numbers (both) that aren't collected or offered an interface to be input like Uber does.
- sale tax that aren't remitted to business owners.
- the unfriendly shopping experience where it hard at checkout to review items quickly during multi orders.
- the support by chat which is a real torture on a stupid cellphone small screen, and take forever to chat with and reply with your at the store, at the cashier line and have no time to play around (with uber, you get diamond support by phone, within 1 minutes, when needed).
- their own map system which bug all the time, not compatible with Android Auto, like Uber is, only work on the cellphone.
- No Online Web Dashboard where to easily download all earning statement, by week in PDF format, it almost as if they don't give a flying **** about driver's accounting being clean, but only their, and then make it a misery to do any sort of reconciliation or sums total/stats, even if that only for income and sale tax reporting.
- No easy direct deposit on demand, you have to go to a complicated bullshit that nobody want.

I am not saying Doordash ain't an option, but it is a lower quality, lower grade, nearly amateurish vs. their drivers, and for having being doing this for almost 2 full years I can say that Doordash didn't put much effort or energy into "fixing" these things or to get on-par with the rest of the industry, they shown little to no amelioration, while the rest thrives and are getting better and better.

We are at the point where we might have to pass law and regulations to force doordash (and the like), to minimally achieve the quality and operational functionally in terms of supporting their drivers like Uber.

PS: Don't get me wrong, Uber has their own problem, but Doordash is way worst at the moment, it not even close to be comparable.
