Sometime, some people who think they are more important than they really are, just need a simple lesson: Be left alone in their corner of the world in isolation.

Meanwhile the rest of the world will enjoy a super important tool that Internet Archive is, and they will try to provide better way at enforcing copyright rules than just use the lazy and dumb way and accuse the wrong people and become the needle in the foot that nobody need, because you want to rules like a pyramid, and can't figure out how to punish the actual people who break copyrights, so instead you go after their upstream provider. And note that I am not against enforcing copyrights, but it need to be done in a proper way, not with this plain stupid method.

Absolutely not acceptable.

It has been almost a year now, and all my workstation are running either arch or debian. I don't think I would want to ever go back and re-invest myself in the Microjunkie ecosystem that gonna tell me the meteo that I didn't ask for, and try to sell me some specific stocks or tell me about their political view (news), all while forcing me to register an account that nobody want and of course a bunch of telemetry that you are forced to.

GAFAM had one goal, and it is to put an identity on you, so that they can sell it back. Google is doing it with their developper program/device setup, so is Apple, and now Microsoft. There seem to be some sort of incentive to completely FORCE YOU out of your capacity to say NO, I don't want to link my identity or create an account to use this computer or device I bought. And we are not even going in the capacity of refusing AI crap, Telemetry crap, Marketing crap, etc that is being forced bundled with a vast majority of the computers and mobile handheld.

Because all serious business or corporation wouldn't have employee signing a NDA and/or other forms of contract for mutual confidentiality as a direct, indirect or chained provider or supplier, and thus, wouldn't be allowed to share whatever project, code or other idea on some system that has not been "Approved by IT", that IT team that probably had to go through a set of approvals themself so that the business stay secure but also compliant in the eyes of it insurance, shareholders and others liable party ?

What the reality is; Redneck Joe will not give a fuck about you and your bullshit, he and the 40-50%+ of the population, will start again (like our grand parents used to do), throws shit in water, burn it, bury it, export it, bring it to their others neighbor, and do shit like this....

Have you seen how VS Code is barely usable when you don't lean toward Subscription based or Pay for 3rd party tools ?

Let take the example of the C# DevKit, where you got to "activate it" to use it, you got to resort using omnisharp to not have to do that. This *granular enshittification* of every fucking aspect of it, is what I am talking about, not just "AI", but lot of things Microsoft does, result into binding you more and more with their services, their partner, their eco-system, instead of really contributing to the free and open source.

This seem to be a long time planned perversion of the stability, privacy and comfort we have on linux, something that Microsoft seem want to mess up with their co-pilot. Just have Canada and USA vote, make and pass laws that make opt-out a default when it concern AI, and to not "force" users to install or use any AI components to use the base functionality of their device. If the users want to, then let be his/her/their choice, not the data-mining company's holding the user hostage to do whatever until they have their AI anal probe installed everywhere and activated.

Just like Microsoft had to re-think their "internet explorer" embedding in Windows, it is time to require and force the GAFAM to act responsibly.

This doesn't prevent them from gathering genuine pigs that want to have that AI everywhere they go, but it would protect the rest of us. It almost like if that was common sense !
