Oh well, another device that I will have to look for "how to disable the enshittificated battery management on this device so that my apps and the rest function as desired and expected".
Thanks Microsoft.
"This could appeal to developers working in business units or teams that want to build quickly without waiting on formal IT approval."
Because all serious business or corporation wouldn't have employee signing a NDA and/or other forms of contract for mutual confidentiality as a direct, indirect or chained provider or supplier, and thus, wouldn't be allowed to share whatever project, code or other idea on some system that has not been "Approved by IT", that IT team that probably had to go through a set of approvals themself so that the business stay secure but also compliant in the eyes of it insurance, shareholders and others liable party ?
Just a though for nightmares...
Seem that some people working in these nice tall building, making decision for all of us, doesn't understand clearly the human nature, and JFC this is so disconnected from reality, that this is plain hilarious.
What is expected is; An utopia where all humans are nice, beautiful, happy, smiling, nice to each others, clean, and recycling 100% of their waste.
What the reality is; Redneck Joe will not give a fuck about you and your bullshit, he and the 40-50%+ of the population, will start again (like our grand parents used to do), throws shit in water, burn it, bury it, export it, bring it to their others neighbor, and do shit like this....
Yeah... instead of making people life easier, let try repression. That worked real nice for Drugs (War on drugs), I'm sure that will be a real success with Garbage bags ! */sigh
Have you seen how VS Code is barely usable when you don't lean toward Subscription based or Pay for 3rd party tools ?
Let take the example of the C# DevKit, where you got to "activate it" to use it, you got to resort using omnisharp to not have to do that. This *granular enshittification* of every fucking aspect of it, is what I am talking about, not just "AI", but lot of things Microsoft does, result into binding you more and more with their services, their partner, their eco-system, instead of really contributing to the free and open source.
It's like getting "Window-rized", piece by piece, slowly by a silent cancer, planning every move it does.
I am debating what would be the best nickname for co-pilot :
- AI Disease ?
- Digital Gangrene ?
- e-Parasite ?
- The thing you can't seem to get rid off ?
Is there a better VS Code replacement since there seem to be no opt-out to the "forced and shoved in the throat AI roadmap" from MS ? Can we please get an IDE that is clean and stripped of bullshit, and that we can disable all forms of AI or does we have to go back to eclipse, clion and others ?
This seem to be a long time planned perversion of the stability, privacy and comfort we have on linux, something that Microsoft seem want to mess up with their co-pilot. It alright that it is been offered as an options, but starting to "insert by force" it every where and then slap "AI" on everything..... what the f... is wrong with you !
That just did remind me why the last HP computer I ever played with, was back in the Windows 98 era.
And it will probably stay that way forever now.
OpenAI seem to be the better choice and would have me consider Apple for one of my next devices !
Especially if OpenAI could pay and buy back Microsoft participation so that they don't have to sign up for shady deals, that would be the best outcome ever.
Playing games on Linux with Steam like POE2 and D4 @ 60 FPS, and loading time is faster than windows...
Truly the year of the Linux Desktop.
Good luck and Farewell in your "Undesired marketing, Forced Telemetry, Forced Microsoft Account Bidding, and others Cloud Bullshits that nobody want to be forced upon, in an attempt of getting the customer to finance MS infrastructure instead of it's own", it has been a nice ride, but we're done here.
Can they do the same thing with 3rd party Kernel Anti-Cheat System ?
Just asking for a friend
Just have Canada and USA vote, make and pass laws that make opt-out a default when it concern AI, and to not "force" users to install or use any AI components to use the base functionality of their device. If the users want to, then let be his/her/their choice, not the data-mining company's holding the user hostage to do whatever until they have their AI anal probe installed everywhere and activated.
Just like Microsoft had to re-think their "internet explorer" embedding in Windows, it is time to require and force the GAFAM to act responsibly.
This doesn't prevent them from gathering genuine pigs that want to have that AI everywhere they go, but it would protect the rest of us. It almost like if that was common sense !
Better to put these pants back on before unlocking that Windows PC in the morning or for a PH session... lmao !
Can it predict how pissed we are at getting force feed every possible bullshit AI out there with our privacy and copy rights getting eroded and robbed with no liability ?
When it is that we will "demand" that our lawmaker make being opt-out of every single AI crap a default, and that electronical devices such as mobile or computers have to stop sucking your privacy out by preventing and making illegal to pollute like a cancer, a device with stock application or services that you can't remove or disable, including un-wanted tracking and the like ?
Goddamn digital gangrene.
I never understood why doordash settle for sub-par interface and quality of application than Uber by example, which is clearly a leader in that industry.
Whether it is :
- sale tax registration numbers (both) that aren't collected or offered an interface to be input like Uber does.
- sale tax that aren't remitted to business owners.
- the unfriendly shopping experience where it hard at checkout to review items quickly during multi orders.
- the support by chat which is a real torture on a stupid cellphone small screen, and take forever to chat with and reply with your at the store, at the cashier line and have no time to play around (with uber, you get diamond support by phone, within 1 minutes, when needed).
- their own map system which bug all the time, not compatible with Android Auto, like Uber is, only work on the cellphone.
- No Online Web Dashboard where to easily download all earning statement, by week in PDF format, it almost as if they don't give a flying **** about driver's accounting being clean, but only their, and then make it a misery to do any sort of reconciliation or sums total/stats, even if that only for income and sale tax reporting.
- No easy direct deposit on demand, you have to go to a complicated bullshit that nobody want.
I am not saying Doordash ain't an option, but it is a lower quality, lower grade, nearly amateurish vs. their drivers, and for having being doing this for almost 2 full years I can say that Doordash didn't put much effort or energy into "fixing" these things or to get on-par with the rest of the industry, they shown little to no amelioration, while the rest thrives and are getting better and better.
We are at the point where we might have to pass law and regulations to force doordash (and the like), to minimally achieve the quality and operational functionally in terms of supporting their drivers like Uber.
PS: Don't get me wrong, Uber has their own problem, but Doordash is way worst at the moment, it not even close to be comparable.
Thank for your objective and constructive reply, and you're probably right on the autocrat part.
I am still wondering what if that someone is a non-profit fondation that has a claim: "WordPress Foundation is a non-profit organization that was set up to support the WordPress project.[149][150][151] The purpose of the organization is to guarantee open access to WordPress's software projects forever." but then start a world wide drama because they are not getting enough "PROFIT" from those who do succeed because they can't grow their own organisation like some sort of Google from the year 2000 in a sustainable grow manner instead of just keeping a float without necessary "growing" like a profit business ? We all get it, Wordpress has cost to develop and maintain, some C-LAMP stack, bandwidth, etc,
In all seriousness, I feel that socialism or autocrat, by definition apply to a government ? Does it would also apply to a individual or non-profit organisation such as Matt or Automattic who has power ? Shouldn't we have some sort of legal system in place that where whenever you put an project online under the "free open-source" branding/licensing, that project become a "collective property / goods", and that possible destitution options are possible to protect the very existence of the project if at a later time, the current CEO/manager turn rogue like Matt ?
My problem ISN'T that matt want more money... neither the need of, if there is really one.. (I doubt it). The problem is in the way he doing it ! That extorsion, discrimination (cherry picking instead of asking everyone a base price or whatever) and brute force in term of financing a project, and it is being hypocrite to the true nature of free open source. Why the need to "tax" those who use it, and not everyone in a equal manner, but targeting and discriminatively cherry picking who and who , when it was supposed to be a collective work of users that others can use and capitalize on without the fear of exactly this happening ?
If we can't get back the control on, and the guarantee that this will never happen again, we need someone to fork Word Press into something that will REALLY free to use, FOREVER, for everyone such as individual and businesses, SMALL or BIG, so that it is inviting for all the developers around the world to work on it's eco-system, themes and plugins and feel safe to do so.
What we don't need, is to be part of a cult like groupies to please the quirks of one crazy guy.
Imagine if by a pure fictive and unlikely example, the developers of CURL decided one day that *INSERT ONE RANDOM FORTUNE 500 COMPANY NAME HERE* doesn't finance them enough, so they will stop providing access to their code repository in retaliation, discriminatively. Aside from a law suit, what do you think it would happen here ? People would move to another free software or make their own ? fork ? Why aren't we having the same reaction with Word Press ? Because it is a "web software" ?
Thank for your time
