I met Fred Brooks at a Siggraph in 2000. My startup, Hypercosm, had arranged to do a demo/lunch thing to which almost nobody came. Except Fred Brooks. I did my demo and sat down feeling completely miserable and dejected. He stayed for my demo and talked with me afterwards and cheered me up. I had read Mythical Man Month and some of his graphics work and knew he was a legend but I had no idea what an incredibly nice person he was. I never forgot that moment of kindness. I think this showed that he understood the complex systems known as humans on an intuitive and fundamental level that is rarely achieved. Thank you, Dr. Brooks

Linux will only become prevalent on the desktop when cloud operating systems (like NextCloud, Sharedigm etc.) make it irrelevant and it won't matter what native OS you run.
