I don't condone or participate in the OS wars. Seems pretty fucking stupid. 99 percent of the world could give a shit about the technical merits of their OS. To this particular demographic, a computer is just a magic TV set. I would like to hear some of the "well presented" arguments for MS products sometime. I have yet to hear something like that. We have 3 MCSE's working with us *nix guys and I don't think one of them would even try to make a good argument for MS products. Don't flatter yourself, the decisions to use MS products are made at higher levels and driven by market hype. Microsoft is the definition of arrogance itself. Don't be surprised when you find some of it directed back at it's supporters. Try looking beyond the "linux maniacs" and seeing some of the underlying principle. There is nothing arrogant about free/open software. Microsoft bullies it's clients (and support staff) into worthless upgrades. Thats pretty arrogant. Free/Open source software allows a corporation to get back in control of their own destiny. You can't compete today if you wait around for Microsoft to release the latest bloat. You need access to the latest code and you need license to mold it to your own vision. That is freedom. That is how it should be. This is not arrogant. Don't confuse "professionalism" with marketing. This technology was not created (still isn't) by some MCSE marketdroid in a white shirt and club tie that can recite MS textbooks and marketing studies. Go ahead. Post a well presented, professional article on why anyone should upgrade to Win2k. P.S. emacs. ewoks, ebays...who cares. Just a bunch of code. Grab the source...learn something about how this stuff really works before highlighting your arrogance in public. Free the knowledge, don't be a dork.
