Watched it this Summer when we couldn't decide what to watch, then picked it because it seemed like the worst choice. It's a "cute" feel-good movie, a little touchy-feely, but hits on some good topics. It has a really great cast and some hilarious parts. Been recommending it to everyone.

My daughter was taking Pristiq, an extended-release, once a day pill. Once the generic for it became available, of course that's what the insurance wanted to pay for. No problem, I've always been of the opinion that drugs are drugs, and that the generic is exactly the same as the name brand.

But for this specific generic anyway, whatever they used to control the release of the drug didn't seem to work the same way. Instead of a nice steady 24 hour dose of the drug, it released very quickly, so within an hour she was extremely tired (a known side-effect, though she never experienced it with the name brand), and several hours later she would be angry/agitated/anxious/sad, all the things that the drug was supposed to help with. So it seemed like she got a big dose all at once, and then it wore off and didn't help the rest of the day.

Her doctor agreed and said that he had heard of that happening with other generics. So while the drug may be exactly the same, the "packaging" may not be, and that can have some very adverse effects. Fortunately we were able to get her back on the name brand drug, without the weird effect of the generic.

No. There's no such thing as "enough". There's no such thing as too many. Calories are just something she's not even supposed to think about, so seeing calorie counts are a trigger that can send her spiraling downward. Recovery is about the food and learning to eat again without any thoughts of counting calories, good food, bad food, etc.

As the father of a daughter who is recovering from anorexia, this is not a good thing. Seeing how many calories is in anything is one of the worst things for her. She's in recovery and handling things much better now, but we really don't need calorie counts in our faces everywhere we go. I guess that will further limit our restaurant and shopping choices to places that don't do this.

Yes, I realize the obesity problem in the U.S. And that people with eating disorders make up a much smaller percentage of the population than overweight people. But believe me, after seeing her go through this, and now recovering, the last thing I want are more triggers all over the place to make her think about it.

Submission + - Can Music Survive Inside the Big Box

_randy_64 writes: In a story that ties in nicely with the current front page article on the possible reprieve for Net Radio, the Wall Street Journal asks Can Music Survive Inside the Big Box? The article discusses how the "big box" stores (e.g. Wal-Mart, Best Buy) are cutting back on space and acceptance of music CDs. With 85% of music sales still coming from CDs, maybe this is another thing to push the music industry towards better online sales models?
