Having worked in Sweden for 18 months, I have to say, you seem to get very good value for your money. Personal income tax may be higher, but "sales" tax comes across as being commensurate with most EU countries.
If I remember rightly, any young missy who becomes with child, gets something like 8 months maternity leave at 70% full pay. And Dad gets, perhaps, a month too.
When you retire, if I remember right, you get AROUND 70% of your best 10 years wage.
Sick? OK, you don't get the first day free, but you are very well looked after, following on from that.
Not being facetious here, Sweden DOES have very high taxation, but also very good value for money.
(Of course, that is taking into account things as they are right now, and ignoring the effect of the aging population, which applies everywhere.)

After any salary raise, you will have less money at the end of the month than you did before.
