Best Man Rigs Newlyweds' Bed To Tweet During Sex 272

When an UK man was asked to be the best man at a friend's wedding he agreed that he would not pull any pranks before or during the ceremony. Now the groom wishes he had extended the agreement to after the blessed occasion as well. The best man snuck into the newlyweds' house while they were away on their honeymoon and placed a pressure-sensitive device under their mattress. The device now automatically tweets when the couple have sex. The updates include the length of activity and how vigorous the act was on a scale of 1-10.

Spore Patch Nearly Lets Creatures Into Other Games 60

Dalambertian writes "The release of Spore's Patch 5 lets players export their creatures (and soon vehicles and buildings) in Collada format. This includes textures, bump mapping, and rigging for animation. Maxis developer Ocean Quigley recently posted a nice tutorial for getting said creatures into Maya, and other 3D packages are soon to follow. This could have a huge impact on the games industry, and the indie games scene in particular. Unfortunately, if the patch falls under the usual EULA, then any legitimate use of the art assets outside of the Spore community becomes impossible. EA is apparently just teasing us with its taste-but-don't-swallow policy, and at present it's not clear whether the genius that came out of Spore's development will ever truly be accessible to the game dev community."

I haven't had time to re-test to find out what my current situation is, but I can tell you that I have experienced COMCAST mucking up my DNS traffic in the past.

I have a Linux server on my local network that acts as a caching DNS for all of my client machines. Several months ago I found that there were large holes in my internet access (including for some reason, most hotels in Las Vegas... I was planning a vacation).

I have 2 separate internet connections to my house, one from COMCAST and one from QWEST. I did not do significant detective work when I had the problem. I used some online DNS tools to verify that the sites had good DNS entries (when not querying through COMCAST), I then accessed them with IP addresses successfully, SO, I went to my router and added a rule for all port 53 traffic to go over the QWEST connnection and (surprise)... everything worked!

I chalked it up to something being messed up on COMCAST's network and not a nefarious plot; I left the rule in to direct all of the port 53 traffic out the QWEST connection and I haven't had a similar problem since.

FCC Approves Unlicensed Use of White-Space Spectrum 138

sidesh0w was one of a number of readers to alert us to the FCC's unanimous decision approving unlicensed devices to use the white spaces of the spectrum unused by television broadcasters, provided they take certain precautions not to interfere with licensed users. "Denying a tremendous last-minute lobbying effort by broadcasters, the vote on white space devices went ahead as planned today after a several-hour delay at FCC headquarters. When the vote came, though, it was unanimous. For the Democrats on the Commission, the devices are appealing because they offer a potential new avenue for broadband services, while the Republicans are pleased for the same reasons, but love the fact that this is a deregulatory order that focuses on less regulation and more competition."
