I'd expand it to say Linux is a toy OS, people really shouldn't misunderstand that.

So the company took away a service that they were offering for free. They were in no way obligated to continue this hosting. Why is this news to anyone?

I've said it elsewhere in the thread but hey: you have boxes that are running production jobs. Surely you have them under support? Whats the big deal?

While I was tempted to troll I thought I'd be serious: What's the big deal? You're not running your production system on hardware without a support contact anyway are you? If anything this gives you some value for money!

Windows- Pay money upfront and get security updates for free. Solaris - Pay no money upfront then pay for security updates. While its initially a bit of a surprise its not outrageous.
