I have evaluated a few frameworks for the Multicraft control panel (multicraft.org) and in the end decided to stick with Yii. It's an elegant and easy to set up framework that lets you get something functional done in a very short time. Also, I haven't had a single Yii related issue with the multitude of webservers and operating systems the Multicraft panel is already running on. I enjoy working with Yii and will start using it for other projects as well: http://www.yiiframework.com/ (I'm not affiliated with them in any way)

Minecraft is the game, the control panel is called Multicraft. It's a PHP application with a backend written in Python so yes, you need a webserver. It's up to you what kind of webserver you run. It works fine with Apache, Apache2, Lighthttpd, Nginx, IIS and most likely any other webserver with PHP support. For Windows users there is a package that comes bundled with a standalone version of Nginx so they get a much requested one-click solution. It's used by a lot of hosting providers because it allows easy mass deployment of Minecraft servers, but it works just fine for individual use (and it's free for that purpose).

The Washington Post updates a story we discussed last spring about a push in the Democratic-controlled congress to legalize some forms of Internet gambling in the US. "Partly bankrolled by offshore gambling companies, the campaign has already persuaded the Obama administration to delay enforcement of a 2006 law cracking down on Internet wagers. ... The federal government, which rarely prosecutes online gambling, would net billions of dollars in tax and licensing revenue if it were legalized, proponents say. ... The outlook on Capitol Hill, however, is uncertain given a slate of unfinished business... [and] nervousness among Democrats about November midterm challenges. ... [A politically conservative poker player said] 'There's a part of the party that always believes this isn't something people should do. But I think it behooves the party to be a little more broad-minded on this issue.'"

I don't see any problem with your example in Opera 10. The only thing that might be a bit odd is that it doesn't refresh the contents when increasing the size vertically. It does refresh when decreasing the size or resizing horizontally in either direction.

Red Hat Spins Off JBoss 2.x As HornetQ 50

Several sources are reporting that Red Hat has spun off the 2.x release of the JBoss messaging protocol as HornetQ. The 1.x version of JBoss is still being supported in maintenance mode and will continue to be known by its original name. "HornetQ is an open source project to build a multi-protocol, embeddable, high performance, clustered, asynchronous messaging system. HornetQ is an example of Message Oriented Middleware. [...] HornetQ is designed with flexibility in mind: It's elegant POJO based design has minimal third party dependencies: Run HornetQ as a stand-alone messaging broker, run it in integrated in your favorite JEE application server, or run it embedded inside your own application. It's up to you."

String Theory Predicts Behavior of Superfluids 348

The initial breakthrough was made by physicist and cosmologist Juan Maldacena. His theory states that the known universe is only a 2D construct in anti-de-Sitter space, projected into 3 dimensions. This theory manages to model black holes and quantum theory congruently, a feat that has eluded scientists for decades; but it fails to correspond to the shape of space-time in the known universe. However, it does predict thermodynamic properties of black holes, including higher-dimensional viscosity — the equations for which elegantly and almost exactly calculate the behavior of quark-gluon plasma and other superfluids. According to Jan Zaanen at the University of Leiden, 'The theory is calculating precisely what we are seeing in experiments.' Unfortunately, the correspondence cannot prove or disprove string theory, although it is a positive step." Not an easy path to follow: one condensed matter theorist said, "It took two years and two 1000-page books of dense mathematics, but I learned string theory and got kind of enchanted by it. [When the string-theory related] thing began to... make predictions about high-temperature superconductors, my traditional mainstay, I was one of the few condensed matter physicists with the preparation to take it up."
