Comment Just a scam to get people to go 3g (Score 1) 184

Cable theft is a scourge that we suffered from years ago already, the policing and punishment of said deed being lamentable. Most of us, as a result of what appeared to be bumbling inefficiency on the part of our national telecom were forced to go 3g for internet and phone as our areas were declared 'high crime' areas cables were not replaced, our neighborhood was placed in this category even though it was a low crime area, at the time I wondered why our telecom guys were not interested in correcting that error. This, ultimately, exposed the scam, the 3g guys were indirectly behind most of cable theft as they stood to make a bundle from us having to movie to them because there was no other option. Our national telecom eventually 'rewarded' the private telecom guys for their deeds by giving us a 3g service at a tenth of the price, the private guys can't compete as they are forced to use the local telecom as a backbone for their service. I have mixed feelings about this as the cheapest wireless service still costs ten times more than the wire service

I have been unable to purchase anything through the Origin interface since Dead Space 3, as all of my attempts at purchases have been denied due to 'error NU2001' Origin themselves couldn't help me and the automated responses I got from them stating it had now been fixed try again were fabrications as I still had the problem, in the end I just gave up trying to buy anything from them, as have the countless thousands of other people who have had the NU2001 problem (You can verify this with a quick Google for 'error nu2001' - No wonder they are in trouble now, they have lost a huge cross section of their customer base through lack of communication between the complaints department and management. The only person who has genuinely tried to help me with this problem so far is whomever it is that runs the Origin Facebook page - Thanks Dude! I haven't had problems prior to or subsequently when purchasing stuff through Steam or GOG, or anyone else for that matter, so the problem is with Origin, not me, my card, nor my financial institution. So, I can't even buy SC5 through Origin to join in the fray, or not.

The log-box could in fact be be the holy grail for those who would police the Internet. Any politician worth their salt would immediately recognize the money making potential here. Make the boxes compulsory and suddenly you have an instant market of epic proportions, just think how much money, money for nothing, a politician and his cronies in manufacturing can make from this, then you realize that this has a really good chance of flying.

The bankers cheated, the man in the street guys got caught instead of them, now, with the aid of government bailouts, you're paying for them cheating while they, the financial guys wallow in the dirty money that they're still making - extrapolate that to any other form of cheating. the only time professionals get censured is when they get caught stealing from their professional associations
