The FCC Broadband privacy rules, IMO where simply excessive regulation IMO.  The real data collection occurs at websites (Google, facebook, slashdot, etc.)
Basically to target people with advertisements.  We have all seen it.  Search for "product x" on amazon, and you see adds for product x and competitors when you browse other websites.
The FCC privacy rules wouldn't change that.  The FCC privacy rules also required additional paperwork, monitoring, etc. by the ISP's even though they couldn't mine traffic data.  Thus increasing the costs of the ISP's.

If you are unhappy about these rules being repealed, then you have been unhappy since AlGore invented the internet.

From other articles, it is clear the Chinese are cancelling these projects because they would have caused an over capacity of power.
What is not mentioned, is why they scheduled so many plants to begin with.
Either bad planning, excess corruption, or the Chinese economy is slowing faster than predicted.

To gain some political capital, they are "spinning" this that the reason is to reduce CO2 emissions.

Comment Simply a call for more government (Score 0) 635

Notice how all the Obama "solutions" are simply ways to increase government spending? And that the spending should not with the goal of achievement, but to funnel money to democrat and liberal interests: > " ... The report calls on the government to steer that research to support a diverse workforce and to focus on combating algorithmic bias in AI. " OK, money for "diverse people". Need to make sure there is no "algorithmic bias" that could be based on, or promote traditional American values > "Invest in and increase STEM education for youth" OK, the US already spends more than most countries on education. What is really needed is to remove garbage "cultural" courses and replace with STEM. > "Modernize and strengthen the federal social safety net, including public health care" Yes, we need more Obamacare subsidies, more food stamps, etc. Gee, should not the goal be to minimize government handouts? There is a new Sheriff in town. A culture shift is on the way. These ideas that the central command government is even capable of solving problems will melt away. Merry Christmas and happy new year everyone, its going to be an amazingly great 2017 !!
