So when I spotted this news item re: KeeperFX, I recalled my wife (whom I met in '96) LOVED playing this game back in the day... so I sent her the link. She was so chuffed I surprised her by cleaning up an old Windows 10 laptop and setting everything up. When I showed it to her I expected her to play for a few minutes, but then that stretched to an hour as she giggled and chortled at "smacking imps". Hell, even those of us who weren't fans of the game were losing it at the sound effects alone. (those CHICKENS ftw!!) I didn't even both looking for her old disks in storage... the lousy 6 bucks it cost on COG was more than worth the time savings (not to mention avoiding the dust induced asthma attacks), and eventually I'll prolly get WINE installed on her Mac so she can play it there. In the last three days she's already gotten a few hours in... and now there are a ton of new levels/maps for her to enjoy for as long as you'd like. So yeah... YMMV in terms of how long it sparks joy. :P

Word salad is being generous; I have no idea what they're really complaining about here. I mean sure, the threat of the MAGAts is still ongoing, though becoming more manageable as their numbers dwindle in the face of GoP incompetence, but I'm no longer fearing they'll prevail as I once did. ;-)

Tell me you're completely clueless as much as Arvind without directly saying so. My company's software development and support are now fully remote, and sales, profits and quality went UP. Our CEO pre-pandemic would have agreed with Krishna's anal cranial inverted position; to their extreme credit they learned and adapted and the company is flourishing as a result. Oh, and we'll hire your best people as they quit too. 'Cause we're givers, dontcha know. ;-)

Submission + - Adam Nimoy "For the Love of Spock" Documentary KickStarter (kickstarter.com)

Yohannon writes: In November of 2014, Adam Nimoy, son of Leonard, began talking with his father about creating a documentary regarding the late actor's most iconic role for potential release on the 50th anniversary of the premier of Star Trek. With the actor sadly passing in late February, the project has become more of a celebration of Leonard Nimoy's life as a whole. To fund the project Adam has turned to KickStarter to raise the relatively modest 600 thousand dollars (US) to complete the documentary. With 19 days to go (as of this writing) the crowd funding is just shy of half way to that goal, and could likely benefit from some love from the Slashdot community.

[Full disclosure: I am the husband of one of the models Nimoy used for his "Full Body Project", and she might be interviewed as a part of the documentary; However, cutting room floors being what they are, even virtually, that's not a guarantee she would actually be IN the doc.]

Hey, it was good enough for penicillin.

As a side note, I wonder what the regenerative effect, if replicated in human beings, would have on things like tattoos? Even better, if you have a set of tonsils or an appendix removed, wouldn't they just grow back to haunt you another day?

Speaking of haunting, the whole "zombie mice" thread makes me cringe. These mice are NOT immortal -- I'm certain that a solid hit with a shotgun at close range would take care of the "super mouse" in short order. Rodentia paté, anyone?
