Comment I'd take an etext any day. (Score 1) 942

With most technical books I buy, the thing I wish
most is that instead of having to pick up a large
chunk of DT-ROM (dead-tree, Read Only Memory)
and flip through it, that I could simply pick
up a CD-ROM with the text of the material on it.
I know I haven't really used Programming Perl that
much in favour of the manual pages, simply becuase
I happen to have a paper copy that isn't right
there when I need it. And I've been getting alot
more use out of the online copy of SICP (not yours,
I know, but it's an example) since I can skip
around and find things. My real dream, as far as
technical books would go, is to either get a
big chunk of plain ASCII, or maybe XML, something
that makes it as easy for me to get to the text
as possible. Some I've seen in PDF, but
they annoy me.
