Xerithane's Journal: Can the MPAA please sue SourceForge?

I don't know about everyone else, but I am getting so fed up with the utterly annoying and stupid SourceForge advertisements. These are the most fundamentally stupid adverts I have yet to see on the internet. I would rather punch a monkey than see, "The source is strong with this one" one more damned time.

Is it really so hard to think up a slogan that doesn't involve ripping off one of the most over-used cliche slogans in the history of mankind? Please, I know you guys hurt for money but don't hire a 13 year old kid to do your marketing. Even if he does share your same level of love for Spiderman and Starwars, don't do it.

I will never buy a SourceForge product now, and probably not a VA product either, at this point. The first advert was dumb. The ensuing 15 other variations have just gotten me to the point where I want them to get sued for trademark infringement or what ever other violation can be had so they stop doing it. If I still lived in the bay area, and VA was still located down the street from my apartment I'd go down there myself and express how fucking dumb those adverts are.

side note: As I preview my entry (required) I get stuck with this utterly horrible new variation with a rather ugly girl in foreground surrounded by pseudo-business men with a big light saber saying: May the "FORGE" be with you. Can't they at least learn when to use quotes? No, the forge may not be with me. I'm going to stick the forge straight up your creatively-retarded ass.

I'd be forced to block all adverts if they did that. As it stands I'm very close to doing that.

They are pretty annoying. Lately it seems like it's pretty much JUST been Source Forge and other OSDN type stuff. I'd like to see some different companies advertising at the very least. Makes me wonder why they haven't sold ad space to more companies (I'm sure slashdot could make some good money doing that if they really wanted to).

The only reason I noticed them today (I normally tune everything out) is because slashdot has been loading so slowly, yet the banner ads still seem to make it in good time.

I really think OSDN/VA's marketing and sales team consists of 13-16 year old kids. If I could block all sourceforge ads I'd be a happy camper.
