Update: 09/22 18:07 GMT by T : Julian Sanchez of Ars Technica passed on a statement from an Obama campaign representative who points out that the changes in wording highlighted by Versionista aren't the whole story, and that more Obama tech-plan details are now available in a PDF, saying "there is absolutely no substantive change to our policy - folks who want more information can click to get our full plan."

For almost 15 years we've provided students with services such as web space, email, wireless internet on campus, cvs/svn, database access, mailing lists, etc., all using Linux and FOSS. In recent years, however, we have faced becoming obsolete. The university now provides wireless access, people get their email from other places such as Google, which also provides free svn access, web space, and so forth. Since we have a large amount of decent, usable hardware, as well as space, funding and a very fast internet connection, we are looking to possibly reform instead of just withering away and dying. We would like to ask Slashdot for ideas as to what we could do; preferably something that cultivates student research or provides an otherwise useful service to students, though all ideas are welcome."

There are plenty of games with excellent story (Mass Effect, Bioshock, etc) and plenty that just focus on gameplay, as many gamers dont enjoy heavy story elements in their games and would rather chainsaw a room full of zombies without delay. Game companies will make what sells so as you story lovers buy up things like Mass Effect the market will respond by producing more titles like it in the future. SO if there is really a market for this artful story entwinement stuff, it will be provided.
