There is very little chance for harm to living cr4eaters during a reversal. The magnetic field of the Earth is only part of our pretction form the Sun's rays. The atmosphere itself sheilds most of the radiation we get, it is as effective as a 13 foot thick wall of concrete. So animals that use the magnetic fild for navigation may be in a bit of a spot though.
How many pole reversal do we average in a million years? 4 or 5
How many mass extinctions do we have in the HISTORY of the Earth? 5.
So, unless the Dinosaurs died out when Homo erectus walked the Earth, I doubt that
that we will have any problems will mass surface extinctions.
