Comment The case for Section 230: (Score 0) 259

"If made liable for posts flagged as defamatory or unlawful, mass-market platforms including Facebook and Twitter would likely switch to a policy of taking down those posts automatically"

Facebook, Twitter, Reddit etc. are already moderating our posts to promote their own, mostly woke agenda. The only effect of repealing Section 230 would be to impose political interference onto what is up-to-now a free for all. That's a price we should all be willing to pay free speech.

They wouldn't need this 'third party garbage', if the underlying Operating System knew the difference between OPEN and RUN.

You should also remember that the state security apparatus spends most of the time spying on its own citizens.

@RandomUsername99: “I remember when Slashdot wasn't filled with a bunch of sycophants who would believe that exposing a large-scale, illegal, domestic and international surveillance program was a worthy goal even if it wasn't 100% completely free of governmental collateral damage. That the US Govt. and its allies were embarrassed by the revelation of their secretly breaking encryption on private communications is a very, very good thing. Without events like this, there's nothing to keep governments in check. Those fucking assholes work for us goddamnit, and Snowden was one of the best steps forward in holding them accountable to that.
