That is where the problem comes from. It's the same here in Canada, drivers licenses are provinvial. The problem is that when you move to a different province and get a new DL, it isn't linked to the old one. No big deal most of the time, but I moved to a different province for the summer and had to change my license so they could do a criminal records check. They use your drivers license to do this, and it has to be a license with your local address on it. So I get the new license and go get the CRC done. But since they use the DL, and it wasn't linked to the old one, the CRC is completely useless.
I don't have anything to hide, but if I was?
With a national ID system, it would be impossible for these situations to occur.
