Picture a ball at the top of a hill about to roll off... IT's much easier to stop it before it heads down the hill. So: There is an inflection point where the societal cost to mitigate begins to accelearte beyond our ability to pay, and we are crossing that inflection point now. Thus, it is incorrect to suggest that the mitigation window will always be open.

Comment not just about slowing traffic (Score 1) 70

Net neutrality is not just about traffic prioritization... It's about ensuring we have secure communications and access to all forms of information uncensored, including information that is critical of the Telco and the government. As example: Before next neutrality any VPN connection to your home was blocked outright. Or, the Telco can choose to block any news source it doesn't like, or blog unfavorable to them. They can do this because telcos are essentially monopolies, as few people have a choice. The privilege of Monopoly must come with a condition, and that condition is net neutrality.

This article is devoid of any factual references or relevant context, so it's just bs. There is no need to over spec the computer because the benefit is only marginal. Today u can get lane awareness, collision avoidance in a non-tesla that is super effective on a tiny CPU. Subaru already makes it standard. That is the next goalpost other mfg need to hit. The self-driving bs is over a decade from now and needs to survive 1000 lawsuits before anyone should consider it. Even then...it's a death sentence for privacy, so be very leery of this crap.
