Journal Journal: Tired...

*yawns* Not enough sleep, no energy... nothing to do. So Christmas holidays start tomorrow.

Today.. got up early to bake biscuits for a pot luck party in Psychology class. Put in a full day, made it to all my classes. They turend out all right, the biscits. Over the weekend, I got done like 3 or 4 out of the 13 some things I wanted to do. I feel sick and tired now, actually have since I work up around 5AM.

Doctors appoitment tomorrow, gonna have to make a list of things to talk about with my MD.

I've been working on downloading a lot of mods for Unreal Tournament. I played my fav level ever just today for the first time in years... was amazing. I got 0wn3d by a Experienced bot, harsh... last time I played I flawlessly murdered a Godlike bot to the frag limit. :) Also, I've read 499 Megatokyo comics. Prio inspiried me to try drawing myself. So I've taken up art... hell I've got a long ways before I can draw like him, but it seems I do have the potential to get there. I've gonna work on my own anime characters sketches, think up some original names, original story, a great plot, and just maybe start my own web comic. Anyone can do it of course, but so few can be good at it. Piro proves that it can be done, as his comic has been very successful over the 4 years now it's been running!

I wanna learn Apache Web Server! But where to start. I just don't know. lol

I gotta take care of my email too... ah maybe putting it off till the weekend wont be so bad.

Gonna see if I can get online against a friend in UT. Should be interesting.

So Christmas's comming up, I guess my plans for the Holidays involve:

!#- Drawing
!#- Unreal Tournament
!#- Linux
!#- Homework
!#- Studies
!#- Finishing this teach yourself C programming book
!#- Having fun with what ever Christmas presents I end up with
!#- Finding some kind of employment online
!#- Buying a referbished computer
!#- Shopping on Boxing day
!#- Working wiht my computers
!#- A few good LAN parities
!#- Drinking $20+ worth of Bawls on New Years Eve
!#- Catching up online
!#- Finding some cool web sites to absorb
!#- Fix up this room of mine to make it closer to perfect
!#- Buying a scanner

I better get ALL of those done. I'll see what happens.

Anyways, I better get back to what ever I was doing...

Journal Journal: | k/\/0\// 1337

Wow... been 5 days without an entry. Well, I've been hella busy. School's been a bitch. I've been reading /. everyday, refreshing nearly once every 2 posts on the main page. So yesterday I started reading Megatokyo. I spent a good 2 or 3 solid hours reading, knocked off 170 comics. Then took a break. When I got back on the computer, I found I could fluently read and write in 1337.

So the weekends here, fucking yeah. :) Plans include:

--Reading /. and following the story links
--Checking out the ThinkGeek store
--Looking for some way to make money online
--Reading another 200+ MegaTokyo comics to get me up to date on that web site
--Watching Serial Experiments Lain
--Buying a case of Bawls
--Doing some Christmas shopping with my dad
--Becoming more familure with Linux and the Consle
--Reading at least 10 hours worth of web pages text content
--Oh yeah.. and the school work I missed. Homework and the such
--Compiling more C applications and learningn a bit more about how to code in C
--Cleaning up this room
--And finally making my computers more 1337

Wonder how much I'll actually get done...

Journal Journal: Fun with Linux

I found a paper of basic UNIX commands for Mac OS X, which I had practised in the past on Mac OS X. So I did a little messing around in the Linux terminal and had a hell of a lot of fun. Customized it a bit, to the general perception of terminals - bright green text on a black background. Moving through directorys with the "cd" command, listing them with the "ls -l" command, moving from folder to folder in the terminal without the GUI. Loading text files in the Terminal with the "cat" command. It's a great feeling actually being able to do something with the Terminal in Linux, 'cause in the past I had Linux installed and could do next to nothing other than surf the web... I did no further study today from the C textbook I have, but I did try writing a basic Math application using a Switch, Do loop with while condition, with floating point numbers... I failed at writing it from memory, but did get very close. Ended up copying and pasting the source code from the example in the textbook, and compiled that. Using "./" to execute things was fun to.

Over all, I am really starting to enjoy Linux! :)

Journal Journal: Interest in C back!

Wow! I found out how compiling a C program is done using the terminal in Linux, now I'm back at it learning C ! :) I'm happy now that I'm back accomplishing something. I'm studying from Teach Yourself C Third Edition, publiched by Osborne (

http://www.osborne.com

) Yeah, it's a very old book, published in 1997. Seems C went to C++ then Visual C now C# is the way to go... I doubt I'll get any arguments about C being a very good place to start. Even though it's outdated, it still froms a base for much of the programming out today, therefor once being advanced in C programing, upgrading to C++ and C# should be a much smoother transtition. So many years I've wanted to join in with the crowd of computer experts and highly knowledgeable white-hat hackers. Right now I'm very much so new to Linux. And am a somewhat experienced C programer (completed 6 chapters of 12 in the book I'm studying). I'll write about my experiences and improvements every now and then. I'm working towards be the end of the month being able to call myself an advanced C programmer, and be able to prove it. Next goal is for some point in the New Year to be able to write most any Linux applications I could want to use, or feel that they could be made better by me. Specificaly I want to write my own web server hosting software, and write my own world wide email hosting server. Buy a domain, and have a web site hosted on my own computer, with email, accessable anywhere in the world. I really don't know if I can go from absolute beginer to being able to accomplish that so quickly... I plan to try. :-D

Journal Journal: Uneventful Day

So much for writing everyday in this journal. Yesterday I managed to get caught up in some online conversations with people I had not spoken to in some time. It was good cacthing up with friends. Also installed SETI @HOME on my PC. Quite an improvenment from when I had it on this older computer. 2.81 years ago on this 350HMz Macintosh it took 32 hours per block of data, on the PC, takes an average of 4 hours. Seems to work out mathimaticaly, the PC is 8x faster, running at 2800MHz. 32 hours divided by 4 = 8. Wow, works out flawlessly. I might as well study Psychology now, then move onto learning C programming...

Journal Journal: The Moving

Today was quite a productive day. Woke up with good energy, and headed to class. I spent 4 hours in the school building, and caught up on my Psychology class. 80% on the assignment, and possible 88% on the test. Not bad at all, I feel happy with the marks. Arrived at home around noon for lunch. Then I got to work. I moved my complete office from the basement of the house to the main floor in the living room. An excellent setup. PC on the left, and Mac G3 Linux box on the left. Which I am currently using to access /. Just created an account with /. today. That's all for now. -Stephen ^_^
