The solution seems to be rather easy: if *any* part of a student's assignment is discovered to be written by AI, then it's instant failure. No ifs, no buts.
I would even go as far as having them write any assignment in class, in front of a teacher, and with pen and paper only, with immediate and inappellable ejection from the school when found cheating.
Let the parents scream as much as they want. For example, every time I have to sit through a youtube video of an English mother-tongue speaker trying to read some written text, I shudder. They don't seem to learn to read in school. What do they do all day? Watch informational videos? And using proper grammar when writing seems to be frowned upon, as 90% of the comments I see are written by people who have no clue about, for instance, the difference between "their", "they're", "there"; or what "it's" actually means versus "its"; and on and on.
Now with AI the human race is going to really regress to the stage of savages; I guess it's easier to live, that way, and to hell with "an unexamined life is not worth living". Nowadays we are going back to "panem et circenses".

I manage a small email server with a few dozen domains, and about a month ago we had this very issue blocking all our mails. I had to redirect all outgoing emails to outlook and a few other micro$oft domains through a smarthost (and drove me crazy in the meantime, not to mention our customers). I can't wait for everyone to jump from windows to linux (or macOS, bsd, anything), so that they can die the horrible death they deserve!

The Elon is a total snake-oil seller, and anyone with a working brain can see that. But if you get paid well to work on a project you know will not work, then why not? Suck the Elon dry while there are still idiots who give him money.
What should *not* happen, is governments financing any of his idiotic trash projects (anyone remembers the hyperloop fiasco? The cybertruck fiasco? And on and on...).
