Submission + - New Rogue Anti-Malware Pushes Fake PCMag Review (pcmag.com)

Varzil writes: http://blogs.pcmag.com/securitywatch/2009/02/new_rogue_anti-malware_pushes_fake_pcmag_review.php The latest rogue anti-malware, dubbed "Anti-Virus-1" by bleepingcomputer.com, tweaks your HOSTS file so that any attempt to visit numerous tech news websites gets redirected to an alleged review of the rogue. It's actually my old review of NIS 2008 edited so it seems to recommend AntiVirus2010. Nasty! If you don't already have protection (and you don't, if some random process could modify the HOSTS file) you might see the rogue and wonder "Hmm, is that a good thing?". So you do a little research, and this fake review seals the deal.
