Comment Re:Logitech MX Revolution (Score 1) 569

If you can find one, I would recommend the MX 1000 over the MX Revolution. It has the same advantages of the Revolution, as mentioned by the parent post, but (in my experience at least) it fits the hand much more nicely. It is strictly a right handed mouse though.

Submission + - PCWorld refuse hardware repair due to Linux. 10

Tikka writes: "Today I visit PC World (London, UK) because my 5 months old laptop has developed a manufacturing fault, the hinge to the display has started to crack the plastic casing.
Anyone in the know, will know that this is due to the joint inside and this means that ultimately the screen will separate from the keyboard in time.

Repair was refused, because I have Gentoo Linux on my laptop — Replacing the Windows Vista that was pre-installed.

PC World have said that this has void my warranty and there is nothing they will do for me, I spoke to a manager who said that he has been told to refuse any repairs if the operating system has been changed.

I feel this has really gone against my statutory rights and will do everything I can to fight it, I will review comments for your advice."

Journal Journal: Bad Day on Slashdot

I think I'm having a bad day, so my comments on Slashdot are skewed to the slightly agressive. In most places where I expected solidarity with my frustration over certain events I'm seeing none.

Further, after calming down and reading the opposing veiwpoints, I'm forced to reevaluate my own ramblings.

Journal Journal: First Posts

I am begging to wonder whether a first post is actually possible. A few days back I saw an opportunity; the new story had no posts on it! So I tried to rush to the "read more" but to my surprise, the page could not be found. I tried several more times, but the page could never be found. When I finally could get on, there were already too many posts to be seen through. So my question is, has anybody ever personally gotten a first post on a new story?
The Matrix

Journal Journal: You can't post as science, so this topic is the matrix.

Ok, three entries in one night is tough, and this question can probably be questioned as a valid science question. Wow that sentence was questionable. Anyhow, I was pouring some Gatorade powder, when there was a burning question deep inside me. Why do powdery substances rise when you pour them? I mean, they are obviouly not lighter than air, so what kind of force propels the small particles upwards. I am very confused, please help if you stumble across this.

Journal Journal: I'm not gonna say it.

So I was thinking, "wow I have never wrote in my /. journal, I must be stupid." For about a half second I thought about what to say. Should it be something profound, funny, stupid? Should I just write, "This is a test," and get on with it. Then a phrase I have seen on so many forums popped into my head. "WOOT first POST!" It made me shudder. But it was tempting. I hated it with vehemence, so I decided not to. A rational came, "this isn't even a post." Also, I can probabl
