Aha: someone screaming from the ivory tower again, I see. The metrics you use may be useful for comparing applicants against one another for selective processes such as college admission, but no one should ever ever EVER pretend that they have the slightest bearing on everyday existence!
Life is real. The choices and decisions people make aren't shaped by the same verbal and logical processes which allow some to excel on the SAT on the Stanford-Binet or whatever other "aptitude test" you care to name.
Your fundamentally elitist comment strikes me as one made by someone who is very much out of touch with actual, honest-to-God people. Do yourself a favor and spend some time in conversation with the "'average' Americans" you choose to denounce, rather than providing blanket assessments of their ability to judge this REAL WORLD in which we live.
