China has 800,000+ internet police, if they op for net neutrality (meaning all contents available for the rest of the world should be available in china) then 800k people will loose their jobs. The fact is people are lazy, if they can't get to it on first attempt, they might just stop. The goal is not to stop all the internet users, but if it blocks a few, they have reached their goals. Same deal as iPhone firmware updates, ps2 revision updates, wii updates, psp firmware updates, they know there are still hackers, but the goal is make their life hard.

You reminded me of the designated protest zone setup 19km away from the olympic stadium during the olympic games. Those zones were more like a mouse trap where protesters were mostly taken to the police station. Pretty much the only thing you can protest there was to protest against the foreigners.

The Great Leap Forward has starved 35 to 40million chinese to death in 3-4 years. This is greater than the sum of deaths due to natural disaster in recent 2000 years of Chinese history.

That's not valid because the web based email could be limited to the intranet. Exchange server allows users to access their email through webmail and companies expose that access to their employees when they are logged on through VPN.

Part of the reason for storage on the web is not because of a lack in harddrive space. Most people use multiple computers nowadays and web apps is very convinient for synchronizing your work among multiple computers.
