I don't know if I agree with your definition of blame.. By the same logic you can't blame the bankers who ruined the world economy because it was in their best interests to make as much money as they could while they could. It's a slippery slope.
It could also be argued that a banker cannot make good money off a ruined economy.

You're pretty good at arguing semantics but ultimately wrong. Sure you could use TCP/IP to play online, but that would require that you allready had partners. bnetd allowed for pirated copies of the game to experience the "social networking" provided by bnet on a lower scale. And i would have to say that was its main purpose given what it does. Nice try though.
