TROLLITERATI CHALLENGES GNAA, CLAIMS REPONSIBILITY FOR 1998 PWN1NG

Durham, NC--Some six years after the fact, Trolliterati has claimed responsibility for a 1998 r00ting of numerous Solaris machines located at Clemson University in South Carolina.

"Clemson were pwnnw3d," declared Commodius Jones, Minister of Rooting for Trolliterati.

"Indeed," added president Puer Magnus. "For three months in the summer of 1998, Trolliterati had root access to about half a dozen engineering machines, forty or so fake accounts, and numerous illegally operating MUDs and IRC bots. The breathtaking lack of basic security--or any network oversight at all, for that matter--at Clemson allowed us to pwn these machines and establish a firm base of operations in the very early days of our organization."

Jones, speaking in broken, unidiomatic l33t with a heavy American accent, then detailed how Trolliterati had later secretly planted a Linux PC in a biology lab, setting it up as a major MP3 server. The server, Magnus said, became so heavily used that its outbound traffic consumed all of Clemson's meager bandwidth, alerting the network administrators to its presence and precipitating the termination of Trolliterati activities at Clemson.

Magnus, answering questions about the timing of this revelation, explained that Trolliterati finally accepted responsibility in order to challenge the skillz of GNAA, which, he said, has never illegally planted a machine, saturated the bandwidth of an entire university without resorting to "puerile" DDOS attacks, or rooted even one computer.

"It should now be clear that Trolliterati > GNAA in every respect," Magnus concluded. "Anyone can crapflood Slashdot. But nobody--least of all GNAA--can match the elite exploits of Trolliterati."
