Journal Trolling4Dollars's Journal: Encounter with law enforcement 5
The wife and I were helping our in-laws move on Saturday. On the way, I nearly ran out of gas because I'd overestimated how far I could go on a quarter tank without taking into account AC usage and stop/start traffic. So we had a fun ride in a rural area looking for a gas station with the fuel light permanently on. We hit all kinds of traffic that kept us tied up for a good 30-45 minutes total. All the while the gas was burning away. Just before we found a station, we passed a traffic jam in the oncoming lane and thought, "Great... we'll be stuck for an hour trying to go back to our destination. (We had to pass it to find gas) Finally we found the station about a half mile beyond the traffic jam and fueled up. On returning, it turned out the the accident was cleaned up and the traffic was flowing reasonably again. However, as we approached the intersection, I passed a police car that was just about to pull out into traffic. He got behind us and followed us up to the light. I wasn't really concerned because I hadn't done anything wrong. But then he pulled up next to us and flashed his lights at us. The only thing I could think was that I had either broken some rule I was unware of or my tailight was out. He pulled up to the passenger side and rolled his window down. My wife did the same. Then he said something that surprised me. "I just wanted to say that I like your car. It's the first one I've seen with a reference to Linux on it." Then he gave me a thumbs up and took off. I thought that was damn cool.
