A friend of mine in Canada just mentioned to me (as we were discussing this) that there's a new tax in Canada of $1 on all CD-R's, cassettes, etc. It seems this money is split between the government & the recording industry to help make up for the money lost due to MP3's etc.
So if I'm a small type band, creating my own CD-R's of my songs and selling them, I'm paying a portion of my sales to the very industry that refused to publish my music. **boggle**
