From day one, they have been shifting the costs of securing the technology onto the user, pretending that the whole thing is an experimentation. Remember Sam Altman (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_Guz73e6fw): "We are building in public and we are putting out technology because we think it is important for the world to get access to this early to shape the way it's going to be developed, to help us find the good things and the bad things, and every time we put out a new model, and we've just really felt this with GPT4 this week, the collective intelligence and ability of the outside world helps us discover things that we cannot imagine, we could never done internally. And both, like, great things that the model can do, new capabilities and real weaknesses we have to fix."

Yet another example of what happens when people use technology before trying to understand it. And not only will it not cost more than expected because of all the infrastructure they will have to set up to check what the LLM produces (which will never be 100% accurate, if they were dreaming of that), but it will create a huge technical debt since this infrastructure will depend on a specific version of the LLM that won't be available for very long...

It's still possible to install Windows 11 with a local account and bypassing some hardware requirements using Rufus (first thing you should do after buying a computer with a preinstalled version of Windows 11: wipe it and replace it with a version from MS), or to switch from a remote account to a local account after the classic installation. Moreoever, for a few bucks, you can buy a licence for Office 2024 or so from a licence broker, which runs on your computer, not in the cloud. But yes, this is not a solution for Mr or Ms everybody...
