Comment I've Been Using An RSS Reader For Years (Score 1) 181

I'm not overly big on news, so I don't generally go out looking for what's out there. I've been using an RSS reader for years, to aggregate it all together so I can look through the headlines to determine what I want to read further. For the longest time I used newsbeuter, but then switched to newsboat a few years ago, and I don't see any need to change that.

Comment Code for yourself in your spare time (Score 4, Insightful) 516

I found that programming for a living does tend to take away the passion I used to have for it. To compensate, I tend to code for myself on my off time. I'd like to get into an open source project one of these days, but for now, I just write my own programs and enjoy the process.

You could get into an open source project, see if that might re-kindle your passion for programming. Make sure you check you company policy for code you write after work, you wouldn't want to run afoul of that.

Comment Help Zen Magnets Out (Score 1) 475

One solution to this is simple; do you feel buckeyballs (which is a very loose trademark considering the name has been around more than 20 years) is abusing the DMCA and being anticompetitive? If so, then go to http://zenmagnets.com/ and buy a small set of magnets (which are cool by the way). I did! Support the little guy and vote with the dollars you spend! Tell your friends on Facebook about the cool magnets you just bought and that they should buy some too! Let word of mouth get around. Let your actions be the PR and send the message to buckeyballs.

Hey slashdot, tell ThinkGeek to carry ZenMagnets and drop buckeyballs instead.

Well, you could get your Amateur Radio license, then you could use Winlink 2000 to send and receive emails while at sea.

Of course, I personally despise Winlink 2000, because of the robots that never listen to see if other stations are transmitting, before they transmit, but that's just my personal opinion.
