Yes, from a technical point of view 3D just didn't work all that well, the glasses cut you off from other people in the room, and also limit you from doing other things at the same time as watching TV which is how many people like to watch a show. Also, unnecessary; it's been found that if you have a good enough story to tell the quality of what you see on the screen can be quite poor and no-one really cares because they are following what is happening not how it looks. I still enjoy watching the occasional black and white film with Humphrey Bogart and don't really care about the resolution, etc. It's the story, not the technology.

Does something like the heisenberg uncertainty principle apply here? i.e. if you are watching for an event and the people who might cause the event know you are watching for an event will they change what they do in some manner to invalidate the data you collected? But if they change the event time or place will the watchers pick that up and if you know that will you try to change where and when you do the thing that would cause the event?

Electronic Cigarettes; The FDA noticed that the things were popular and were ready to ban/regulate them to death when they realized it was a billion dollar market. One idea was to require so much testing and validation that only large corporations could afford to sell them. Say good by to any startups. Some of the arguments for regulating them are that they don't know if nicotine by itself is as dangerous as nicotine delivered via a cigarette. Yes, there have been some issues, and they need to be addressed, but considering the alternative is a coffin nail for people who can't or won't quit smoking do we really want them banned?
