Journal Thom Holwerda's Journal: Wikipedia Crap 2

Quick post: a completely useless anti-SkyOS action is currently taking place at Wikipedia because of the SkyOS article. Some people over there consider it as an advertisement; in reply to which I linked to the Linux and BeOS articles, stating that they are just as an advertisement. I just named, for instance, that in the BeOS one, there is no mention at all of BeOS' horrible networking, whether with net_server or BONE.

Secondly, I think that Cobind is turning into a disappointment-- I had hoped that they designed their own theme-- which they haven't (yet?). Now I reverted to the PhotonUI theme. Luckily it's based off of 6.2 :).

Update: Cobind is slowly turning into something useable, actually. Replaced all the standard themes to my liking, because the standard themes looked very CDE-like. And no, that's bad.

I'm currently replacing some apps; cobind uses FireFox and Thunderbird as the default applications; I prefer consistency in my GUI and therefore I am currently installing Evolution and that Gnome browser (bad: I forgot the name!)

    • The fact that SkyOS is closed source doesn't have to be a downside-- quite the contrary actually; for me, it's a flat out advantage. I have the strong believe that an open-source operating system will never be truely succesful on the desktop. OSS does extremely well on the application side (GIMP, OpenOffice, Mozila & Co, to name a few), though. However, that is a matter of opinion and therefore we are both right, in that respect.

My point is, the closed-sourceness of SkyOS can be either an advantage, o
