One common misconception about the field of Artificial Intelligence is that it is only about trying to replicate human intelligence. Knowing how humans think and using this information to create adaptive, "intelligent" algorithms is more common.
This does not replicate human thought, but allows the computer to algorithmically determine (guess) solutions to a variety of very difficult problems. It still needs a lot of processing power to analyse and pare down the decision tree, but this is expected.
