Submission + - Tool to detect "in flight" changes to webp (washington.edu)

TheWoozle writes: "In a follow-up to a recent story about ISPs inserting ads into web pages, the University of Washington security and privacy research group has teamed with the International Computer Science Institute (ISCI) to develop an online tool to help you identify if your ISP is inserting ads or otherwise modifying the web pages you request."

Submission + - Is your ISP inserting ads into web pages? (digg.com)

TheWoozle writes: "Apparently, some ISPs are resorting to a new tatic to increase revenue: inserting advertisements into web pages requested by their end users. They use a transparent web proxy (such as this device) to insert javascript and/or HTML with the ads into pages returned to users. Neither the content provides nor the end-users have been notified that this is taking place, and I'm sure that they weren't asked for permission either. Changing ISPs is obviously a solution for now...but how long before all ISPs implement something like this?"
