I'm a tax professional, and I can tell you this is the exact sort of thing they try. You think they are afraid of an audit? That's why they pay CPAs and lawyers. Oh no, Mr. Tax Man. That isn't my private jet. It's owned by a holding company that just happens to be under my sole control. I contract it out to anyone in the public. True, it isn't very profitable, and my net operating losses help cover my profitable business. On the bright side, when I "contract" it to take me to Barbados it never seems to be booked!

The secret throttling made me quit as well, but not after I had a fit on the telephone with them. It's unconscionable that they would throttle the service. I moved to Blockbuster's service not too long after that, and I've never been happier. I can exchange them in the store, which means my subscription for 3 at a time means I have the ability to have up to six at a time.

The Uncertain Future of BitTorrent 340

javipas writes "The people behind the popular BitTorrent tracker are working on a new version of the BitTorrent protocol that could become the successor to the current one, maintained by BitTorrent Inc. The company founded by Bram Cohen — original author of this protocol — now has decided to close the source for several new features in the BitTorrent protocol, and this "gives them too much power and influence". The new file format would be called .p2p, and would maintain backwards compatibility with current .torrent files."
