Active Digital Speaker: Digital value gets sent to the speaker. The position of the speaker diaphragm is read out to obtain a digital representation of the actual position. (this can be done using optics and hamming code, or some other means - e.g. interference patterns) The speaker compares the desired position with the actual position and moves the speaker cone/diaphragm till it reaches the desired position.
