....I built my house off-grid years ago.
I could run my house on 100% incandescent bulbs if I wanted (though honestly I prefer the LEDs).
If you can put any kind of solar on your home, I urge you to do so.

....are NOT "flying cars".
A flying car looks like the DeLorean from "Back to the Future", or possibly Genie from "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang".
Those look like flying pods of some kind.

I *do* think EV sales will eventually become the dominant portion, but it's not likely to happen without another round of evolution in terms of batteries/range/recharging times yet. Not having to buy gas is a strong incentive, partially offset by increased tire wear/tear.
They'll get there, in time. I'm okay with the rest of the world working the kinks out first though.
Ferret
.....first, that the numbers are inaccurate. We've seen *that* a dozen times before.
We'll see, of course.

....at least on all of our truly critical systems. There were too many vulnerabilities and (frankly) it seemed to be showing its age. I maintained our database as well as I could but after I retired it got rewritten/changed to something completely different pretty quickly.

UNESCO hasn't done any real "science" in years anyway, and generally seems to be a waste of taxpayer money. Anything spedifically useful we can provide specific grants for.
Ferret
Accurate.
Unsure exactly what you're saying, but I stand by my assessment.
Getting rid of the IRS should be the ultimate goal, IMO.

....and virtually everything he's doing to the government, I definitely DO NOT like this.
Personally I'd love to see all federal taxes go away, but for now I'd be happy letting the tax software continuing to do it's thing.

You are wasting your time. He will just continue coming up with a litany of excuses as to why nothing is ever good enough. It could be an EV that recharges 400 miles in 4 minutes and can tow a 53 foot trailer while only costing $10k and he would still say it's $4k too much.
I presume you're talking to/about me there.
No, I won't be adding to or changing my reasons (that's what they're called, not "excuses"). They'll get satisfied eventually, at a guess in five or perhaps ten years.
Mind you an EV that recharges 400 miles/4 minutes *would* be pretty danged cool.
Ferret
Correct; I can easily top 500 miles of driving in a day.

They need MORE nuclear power, not less, IMO.
Ferret
However there needs to be some milestones first:
1.) Range needs to AT LEAST double from what the current standard is;
2.) Prices generally need to shave a zero off those pricetags to get me interested;
3.) I'll need to be able to use my heater without destroying the mileage; where I live it's snowy 5-6 months of the year;
4.) I will need to be ready to go up and at'em, fully changed, at say 0800 in the morning after hitting the sack at 2000;
5.) I need to see a LOT MORE PLUG-IN chargers.....when i recently went across I-70 there WERE a small handful, but it wasn't many.
Eventually I'll probably get an EV though; they make sense for many applications. Just not mine, just not yet.
Ferret
....they stopped this IMMEDIATELY upon discovering it? Or is it still going on?
The article is remarkably unclear on this point.
Ferret
.....I'd opine that the world need more nuclear at all levels, for every application. it's the cleanest (overall) fuel stuff we've got, and the "waste" is only because we haven't worked out a use for it yet.
