Those bots have been around for a long time, on multiple networks, preying on poorly moderated networks/channels and telling people to join all kinds of other networks/channels and sometimes also dropping names of seemingly unrelated people/groups. All of this was happening before Libera ever existed, but now with the schism they're telling folks to join Libera while mixing in some antisemitism and claiming to be an official message from the Libera staff. Previously they've slung shady sounding online pharmacies and claimed to be specific 'hackers' while linking to things like hackerguysucks.com. They're also spamming OFTC with the same lines.

One of the most prolific patterns of these bots seems to be

/!\ ATTN: This channel has moved to irc.something.else #something /!\

For what ever reason they also like to try and send people to #hamradio a lot of the time on what ever network they're slinging.

Old cars are unsafe trash. They are death traps compared to modern cars. You're free to prioritize vehicle features how you want, but I'm betting there's a better chance of some drunk/cell users hitting you then security forces using you for quota. Also tons of good and entertaining video out there of folks crashing old trash into new trash to demonstrate that point.

Giant Planet Nine Times the Mass of Jupiter Found 73

cremeglace writes "In the late 1990s, astronomers noticed a distinct warp in the disk of dust and gas orbiting a young star some 60 light-years from Earth. Now, using new analytical tools, researchers have discovered a giant planet lurking within the dusty haze. About nine times as massive as Jupiter and composed mainly of gas, the planet is only a few million years old, proving that such enormous planetary bodies can form rapidly." What's amazing about this is that the images taken of the star clearly show the planet first on one side of the star, and then the other, several years later.

Bringing Free Television To Phones In America 159

ideonexus writes "South Korea, China, Brazil, parts of Europe, and Japan have been watching television on their phones for free since 2005, but American mobile carriers are struggling to offer clunky streaming video using Qualcomm's proprietary MediaFLO system for an additional monthly fee and excessive bandwidth demands. Now, with America having gone digital in June, if Mobile carriers were to have ATSC M/H (advanced television systems committee — mobile/handheld) television-tuner chips built into their handsets it sounds like we could enjoy free TV on our cell phones too; however, these companies have already invested a great deal of money adapting their networks to Qualcomm's format and Qualcomm is considering becoming a mobile television distributor itself."

Duke Nukem 3D Ported To Nokia N900 95

andylim writes "It looks as if Duke Nukem isn't completely 'nuked' after all. Someone has ported the 90s classic on to a Nokia N900. As you'll see in the video, you control Duke using the Qwerty keypad and shoot using the touchscreen. I'm wondering how long it will take for this to get on other mobile platforms." In other Duke news, reader Jupix points out that 3D Realms' CEO Scott Miller recently said, "There are numerous other Duke games in various stages of development, several due out this year. We are definitely looking to bring Duke into casual gaming spaces, plus there are other major Duke games in production."
