Comment Brother laser. (Score 1) 92

I assume it's for school work? Brother laser is very cheap both to buy and to run with original cartridge compared to other brands. I have had mine for 15years and do it's work just fine. Only problem I have had with it was when I bought a second hand cartrige where the powder was not powder anymore :) I even found a video on how to reset the counter on cartrige when needed.

Submission + - Musk says he 'deleted' IRS easy filing team (rawstory.com)

echo123 writes: Musk says he 'deleted' IRS easy filing team that let Americans file taxes for free online

= = = = =

In a post on X, unelected government official Elon Musk revealed that he has cut the staff of the Internal Revenue Service that oversaw the system that allows Americans to file their taxes for free easily on its website.

A right-wing MAGA influencer called the "direct file" tax program a "far left government wide computer office" that was "built by Elizabeth Warren."

He claimed, "Direct file puts the government in charge of preparing people's tax returns for them," he claimed.

Musk responded by saying, "That group has been deleted."

Thus far, the website remains active.

The Treasury Department said on its website, "Direct File is a historic new IRS service that allows eligible taxpayers to prepare and file their tax return online, for free, including access to help from dedicated IRS Direct File customer support representatives."

It was available in both Spanish and English and wasn't a mandatory program for anyone. Those who didn't trust the system could still fill out their taxes by hand and mail them.

Comment So if you only use half the carbon capacity? (Score 0) 53

We can reuse it? (one more time?) Have not read the article but each coal atom removes two oxygen atoms (carbon dioxide). Now they say that if each coal atom just remove one oxygen atom (carbon monoxide) it can be reused in the process. 1. Have they figured out some way to make the coal release to oxygen? (That would be very neat, and could be used everywhere including in combustion engines) 2. Do they somehow want to bind the monoxide to the iron? The whole point with using coal/hydrogen is to get rid of oxygen, and this don't seem to do that.

I imagine that every McD will have 1-3 mashine with 8lanes and each lane able to churn out 2burgers per minute. It will be a massive overkill 99% of the time, but machines don't have salary so it's just a investment cost. And machines usually don't add the wrong things to the order unless you ask it to.. As far as working opportunities, well cheaper food at McD, and allow for a little higher tax so the goverment/city/state can employ them for minimal wage and clean up the city/roadsides etc. Also restore buildings, make base work (digging) to enable change leadpipes etc. (you know the rest of the world i laughing at you?)

Comment But chat is shit, like REALLY BAD (Score 1) 24

I mean, chat is like ICQ on steroids, but it's 25years ago.. Not having voice/videocalls is plain stupid. I guess meetings is very good for meetings, but most of my calls are unscheduled, and my spouse have video calls with me when she wonder if she should by X or Y in the store. It's not even a valid excuse that google want to go B2B as most of my workcalls over teams are unscheduled. For me, chat is just a vastly inferior product compared to almost everything else. Maybe even go back to ICQ (But I don't think so, I dont have anything against russia, but I don't want another empire snopping in my chats. Google is bad enought.)

Comment On local backup. (Score 2) 289

It would actually make alot of sense to protect against cryptorandsomeware. Have to set of backup disks. Before backup, turn on the power to one set of the disks using whatever solution you want, can be a timer, can be a poweroutlet connected to the network. Wait for the disk to start. Do incremental backup. Turn off the power to the disks. For the next backup the next set of disk should be used. If shit hits the fan, ether by crypto or just malfunction, you just one backup off. Or you can use the second set of disks for backups just on weekends or however you find it fitting. More set's of disk can be added for even better redundancy. Another way is to just do a backup of the the backup, in that case you can have dedicated fiber between the mashines and don't have to overload the network.

Comment Wrong and sort of wrong. (Score 1) 389

As it takes a few weeks for the antibodys to appear the expected affected part of the population is now around 20% sort of on track, the 7.3% represent the state a few weeks back. Also the number of death from people under 60 is just 180... For people 60-69 its 287.. The problems is with people older than this, and 50-75% of the death are from people in nursing homes.. And a total lockdown would not really have affected the staff in nursinghomes all that much. If we manage to get the majority of people younger than 60 sick and therefore mostly immune they will not infect the old people for whom the sickness is actually lethal. And the only reasonable way to that is to make it as fast as possible (while not overloading the hospitals because then younger people die as well.) having kindergarden and schools open is the perfect way to do it as parents usually are younger and this way about 30-40% of the population can be infected with few or now effects at all on the hospitals..

You DO know that the native Americans (especially south) already tried isolation rather than herd immunity?? Living i sweden and the only people dying are the old and especially the REALLY old and it seems the people still working recover as long as it's possible to get healthcare (mostly just oxygen). One might not like taxes but during the Corona the socialistic model have shown it's best side.
